Unfortunately there has been a theft from one of the Market shops. The theft appears to have been premeditated as the shopkeeper was distracted whilst an accomplice stole cash and personal belongings. Please can I urge all traders to be aware of the risks posed by this type of crime and to take all possible steps to avoid this happening again. There has been a recent increase in the number of dogs coming into the market. I would like to remind you all that dogs are NOT allowed in the Market Hall or Butchers Row and signs are displayed informing of this. Current Market Regulations state "7.2 Dogs (Guide dogs excepted) are not allowed anywhere on the Market premises including Butchers' Row. Traders are expected to assist the Manager in the enforcement of this Regulation." I recently pointed out to visitors to the Market that dogs were not allowed only to be told that they had asked someone who had said that it was OK to bring the dog in. This rule is in accordance with Health & Hygiene regulations and I do not expect to have a repeat of the recent incident when I had to clear up excrement. |

The Gazette & Advertiser have been contacted to give us an editorial on the Butchers Row/Shop areas particularly to cover the new businesses that have opened in Butchers Row over the past few months and to promote these areas. Such an article would, however, need to be supported by some advertising placement.
